Michu prefers the CAM role anyway, so having Bony take the up-front position will be fine with him.

Yeah, but Michu has pretty much been the man for Swansea for the last year. It worked well for them. Now if Laudrup gives the word to make Bony the target man, where does that leave Michu? He might not be left out completely, but any change from a working system is a concern. Maybe it'll be better, I don't know. Just hoping Michu still has the chance to do his thing because he was one of the more entertaining players to watch last season.

It's not really that much of a change though. Michu occasionally changed it up to CAM a few times last season and even did it as recently as our 4-0 win against Malmo. I think he'll be fine.

Frustrating first half vs Tottenham. No complaints about the bookings, but the referee should have booked some Spurs players but didn't. Double standards. Spurs should have had a penalty though, so I guess it evens out.

U watching it?  I've got a decent feed on http://vipstreams.eu/watch/1/tottenham- … ty-fc.html but it's a little buggy.

Decent first half from us.  Dominated in all areas, Swans got luck with a block on the line and Shelvey knows it should have been a pen.  Not seen a thing so far from Swansea, but I think Bony will be out in the 2nd half (assuming he's on the bench) and that might make a difference.  Michu can't cope with the high line so far, but he's smart enough to spring it, so we need to stay alert.

Annoying that we keep shooting, rather than trying to feed Soldado thru.  Could have had a couple if we made better choices.  Hoping for a good 2nd half, and if both teams come out and play the same way there will only be one winner.  Up to the Swans to do something different...

All in all, the game was tight. Both teams were going all out to try and get the ball. But the referee was an absolute idiot. Every decision went against the Swans and while Spurs did get I think two bookings, they should have had a lot more. The ref was inconsistent with his decisions. The penalty you eventually got was a dive. Spurs aren't my problem; just the way the referee dealt with everything...

I'm not gonna complain about the result because the first penalty should have been given but wasn't. That ref needs a handbook though.

And Cardiff beating Man City is hilarious but at the same time I'm gutted I didn't get to see them thrashed 4-0.

Pelegrini when questioned that no one would expect to score 2 set pieces against them, but the defenders must have had a lack of concentration... haha

Then also said the Premier League is no different than any other league in Europe

Pellegrini clearly hasn't been watching City then. We've sucked from set pieces for ages now. He's done a lot of good so far, but that's something he really has to work on.

The loss sucks, those should have been easy points, but I really can't argue it. Cardiff's defence was surprisingly good and our back line was way too high to stop the counter. They stole some corners and we were poor defending them. If Cardiff can do it, any other team can do it. That's the worry. I shouldn't have to be concerned about teams like Stoke.

Still, I think we have to look at the positives here. We're still doing better than Arsenal.

With 1 win and 1 loss, Man City are doing just as bad as Arsenal.

Being honest, I saw nothing from swansea at all. You looked more lively when Bony was on, but therr was nothing to actually worry about. I think Lloris made one half decent save all match. Michu isnt a striker, saw nothing of hin here. Shelvey isnt a defensive midfielder. He was clumsey and should be further up the pitch. The pen was soft, but there was hip to hip contact as shelvey tried to block the run of townsend, and contact means a pen in my book. Soft, but valid.

If Spurs were a little sharper, or vorm a little slower it would have been 3 or 4, and the balance of play suggests this would have been a fairer result.

We now move forward to playing arse. We're in good form, our players are settling. They are looking better than they were but not great. This normally means arse win 3 or 4 nil...

Aye, Spurs are looking a bit average with not much going on upfront. I'm going into this weekend quite confident of a win.

So you're doing the same as Arsenal but just scored more goals?

Man City are actually pathetic, the amount of players signed each season for way more than they're worth to never achieve anything great. At least when Chelsea brought the league they weren't buying a new squad every season.

I'm not complaining about the result, Spurs were the better side... but that penalty given was a 100% dive. There may have been the slightest bit of contact but not enough to get a penalty. If "contact means penalty" then every collision in the box would be called for a pen.

Watch Shelvey's run.  He initiates the hip to hip contact that puts Townsend down.  Outside the area it's a foul, so inside the area it's a pen.  Simple.  Most refs would give the foul outside, but not many give it inside.  I applaud the ref for his consistency.

I'm also pretty sure he watched a replay of the first half one and knew he'd dropped a major one, so any kind of contact after that was gonna be a pen.  Shame he missed the handball on the line after Paulinho found the holes in the your keepers hands...

I don't think the ref would have given it outside the box either, simply because he dived.

And yeah, the fact he missed the first one definitely encouraged him to call the second.

Either way, I'm not worried. We had a tough two games at the start of the season which were always going to be tough to get any points from. We should get points from West Brom and Liverpool, and the upcoming Cardiff-Swansea game is going to be huge. I'm comfortable at the end of the season we'll be top 8.

Is this like the official Premier League thread? Can we rename it if it is? I find the term 'banter' childish and over used.

Just saw the most boring match of the season in United vs Chelsea. The last few season the matches between the big teams have always been exciting high scoring matches, now that Mourinhos back guess we can say bye to that.

City aren't buying a new squad every season either. This year they've bought four players (only used three so far) and sold nine. That's no more than normal.

And yep, they scored more goals. I'm being facetious.

And I'm being hyperbolic, which you're aware of. However, it remains that City sold 9 for not even a fraction of the 4 they brought. Didn't they just buy Sinclair and Maicon last season? Wayne Bridge only officially left this window and Santa Cruz was a good striker before he went there. You can't just keep spending 100 million every season, then spend another 100 million when the players from the last window don't live up to it. They need to be regulated quickly, there should be a spending cap for all teams in UEFA.

And you have to admit they're underachieving massively for the amount of money spent.

They sold the players because they sucked. They were massively disappointing for the money, definitely. I have no idea why they let Tevez go for so little, that looked like a ridiculous deal to me. I can't defend a lot of what they do, but the guys they've signed this time around look to be good long-term investments. Well, as long-term as anyone is these days.

I'm pretty sure there are regulations on spending now, right? Teams had three years to break even, I think the deadline was this year. Might be wrong on that.

Moyles plays negative defensive football as well. Gobe are the days of fergies flying wingers. Avb is also far more functional that harry, so it looks like arse are the only attractive team to watch in the top 5. I think next sundays spurs/arse game will be good and have goals tho. Just hopibg its the team in white scoring them...

Wenger has a good record vs AVB. 5-1 at Porto, 5-3 at Chelsea and I'm sure you remember the 5-2 of last season. Spurs need some creativity because this team looks solid but not like they're gonna win many games, I can see you losing 4th place thanks to lots of draws.

And chux, that FFP stuff sounds like bullshit to me. I read that Man City will break even because they are sponsored by their owners, so if the debts are paid by the sponsors who own the team they can spend as much as they want. Also, I can see teams like Real and Barca taking advantage of it too.

Gareth bale apparently missed training and is unhappy that spurs arnt accepting the madrid deal.

I'm getring a little fed up. If he want to go, then he needs to put in a transfet request. He wont tho because then he'd forfit a massive amount of money at spurs.

He either knuckles down and gets on with what his employers want, or he puts in a transfer request.

Hope its the former tbh...
